Assistance at the pier during embarkation, autism-friendly initiatives including sensory-friendly films and toys, and dietary menu options, sign language interpreting services are available, as are TTY systems. The Celebrity Apex Retreat experience encompasses private and exclusive dining, a lounge and splendid sundeck, aimed at giving suite passengers seclusion and comfort. Apex also excels at innovation, with unique features like the heralded Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that juts from the side of the ship and can move up and down depending on its use.

Celebrity Apex offers accessible staterooms for guests with limited mobility and other disabilities. These cabins have a five-foot turning radius, and wider doors, roll-in showers, grab bars, a lowered sink and vanity, bathroom grab bars, raised toilet, and ramped thresholds. But the focus on delivering memorable vacations to every single traveler doesn’t start or end in the guest’s room.

The staterooms also feature mobile locks, which allow you to unlock your door with your phone. While it may take a while, however, for you to see The Retreat aboard some of Celebrity’s older ships, you can experience it all right now, on either Celebrity Edge or Celebrity Apex. The Edge class comes with a range of new amenities, tech and features that are sure to wow cruisers.

If you’re planning a special trip then the extras make Suite Class is great option – and The Retreat is a really beautiful space to spend time in. With people forgoing travel during the pandemic I can see there being lots of demand for extra-special experiences. Apex doesn't offer family cabins, though a variety of cabin types offer adjoining room options. The main dining room offers a kids menu, and the in-cabin dining menu has kids choices, for those nights when dining out is just too much.

But that’s no bad thing, the ship feels manageable, there are more intimate spaces… and you shouldn’t get too lost. The adults-only Solarium features a pool and two hot tubs; there’s the large main pool on Deck 14; a private pool for suite guests-only is hidden in The Retreat, which also offers three hot tubs. Then, there’s the Edge-class Magic Carpet, which debuted on Celebrity Edge first.
The Edge Class
Every cabin on board Celebrity Apex is beautifully designed and decorated by world-renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen. Rooms are comfortable and classy and do their part to raise the bar for expectations around cruise ships’ staterooms. They feature large living areas, spacious bathrooms, and king-size beds (in 99% of the rooms). Solo travelers can select a single stateroom, and families traveling together can take advantage of the ship’s connecting staterooms. But what sets Apex apart is the Aqua Class and Retreat Level cabins and suites, and the exclusive areas of the ship these levels of cabin provide access to during a cruise. AquaClass staterooms are over 300 square feet with a generously-sized private veranda, and two-person bathtubs in some cases.
Celebrity Apex Itineraries
The heated daybeds facing the windows were pure therapy for my body, especially after spending time in the sauna, steam areas, salt room, and crystalarium (where Amethyst crystals help to detox the skin and body). Toward the end of my cruise, I booked a hydrafacial to help unravel the sun’s effects on my face after ten days in the Greek and Croatian islands. The gym on Apex is a bit larger than the one on Edge, but I prefer walking along the exterior jogging track to take in the views.
One of the best innovations on Edge Class ships is splitting the main dining room into four separate spaces – each with a different theme. Normandie (French), Tuscan (Italian), Cyprus (Greek) and Cosmopolitan (American) serve the same daily menu but also have their own speciality dishes. So you get a choice of places to eat included (though fans of traditional dining can still choose to have a regular timeslot and table in one restaurant).
Celebrity Apex is sailing with Starlink - the world’s most advanced broadband satellite internet - to bring you high-speed connectivity for a better onboard experience. Our onboard activities and entertainment will make your vacation an unforgettable adventure. Pardy admitted that her first thought of vacationing on a ship with her fellow Newfoundlanders filled her with dread. "I was kind of like, 'Oh God, that's going to be horrible," she told BBC News. She told CBC that she had booked the trip more than a year in advance, though she later learned from her travel agent that a large group of Newfoundlanders had also booked on to the same cruise.
There are additionally 176 suites to choose from, and 178 connecting staterooms to choose from, both perfect options for groups of travelers or families. This ship’s staterooms are far more luxurious, and give the feel of a luxury hotel, rather than a cruise ship, with plush bedding, neutral color palettes with pops of color, lots of storage space, plenty of room and loads of natural light. Grand Plaza's cafes are the perfect choice for "coffee breaks" - from morning cappuccino to afternoon tea and pre-dinner cocktails - while enjoying live entertainment.
These include a sushi bar and raw grill (loved my dinner here), a French bistro with animated tabletop display called Le Petit Chef, plus a steakhouse and rooftop garden grill preparing burgers, steaks, and salads. Eden is a dinner favorite for its live performances in the cocktail lounge and the creative menu of international dishes, including numerous plant-based options. Eden Cafe has some grab-and-go bites like paninis and salads; and Mast Grill has burgers and fries by the pool. Setting off for the first time in 2020 with enough cabins for around 3,000 passengers, this is the second in the new Edge class of ships for Celebrity. Like sibling Celebrity Edge, this ship has the famous Magic Carpet bar that rises up and down the side of the ship like an elevator—plus a rooftop garden and grill. There are a few subtle differences though, which include the first Montblanc luxury store at sea, unique art and sculpture pieces around the ship, and a slightly redesigned Solarium area.
Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines. We make sure cruisers are fully prepared for their cruise vacation with tips on ships and ports.Millions of travelers rely on Cruise Hive in the United States, Europe, Australia, and around the world. Edge-class ships purportedly cost $1 billion each, though Celebrity Beyond will certainly cost more, as the ship is planned to be about 10,000 GT larger than its siblings.
Sunset Bar in the back of the ship is another go-to place for the views, and late-night hours in the disco keep the party fueled up. At least once during the sailing, it’s worth riding The Magic Carpet with a cocktail in hand while perched along the edge of the ship (I was especially jealous of those that opted to do so while in Santorini). Despite all the nightlife action, there is very little noise disturbance when you’re in your stateroom. A swipe of your card opens up the dozen-plus specialty dining options with dishes designed by Daniel Boulud, Celebrity’s Global Culinary Ambassador.
In the evenings, Grand Plaza transforms into the ship's social hub with live music performances. Sky Observation Lounge offers live music at sunset, or you can test your luck at Fortune’s Casino – there’s something to do onboard at any time. The 2900-passenger ship Celebrity Apex is the second of four newbuilds scheduled to debut for Celebrity Cruises under "Project Edge" (ship class). The new ships are bigger than Millennium-class but smaller than Solstice-class.
